The
Garden Suite Bed & Breakfast is on the second floor of the secluded south
wing of Geneseo's historic Hartford House overlooking a walled garden. Enter the
four-room suite through your own private entrance just off the swimming pool where
you will enjoy full pool privileges.
Enjoy
the quiet of the 75 acre park-like grounds that serves as a home for much wildlife.
It is not uncommon to see young foxes practising their hunting skills on the front
lawn, or take our nature walk through the lower pasture where dozens of deer roam!
Other attractions on
the grounds include The Genesee Volley
Tennis Club with a state-of-the-art Har-Tru court and a lawn court. Please
let us know if you want to play and we can arrange an appropriate match with our
club members or a lesson with our pro "Biff" Strong.
If tennis is too
strenuous for you, enjoy a competitive game of croquet (pronounced "Croakey")
on the front lawn with professional style equipment. This is not the childrens
game you remember!
The estate is also a working vegetable farm with its
own farm market. On our Free Soil Farm
all produce is grown chemical-free. We also avoid the use of chemicals in all
our lawn care and landscaping.
Our continental breakfast often includes
ingredients grown right here on the farm. Your stay can also include a free farm
tour or a tour of the Historic Hartford House if you desire.
Just next
door, and part of the original estate, is Big House Stables, owned and operated
by Susan Strong Kelley, another of the General's descendants. Arrangment can be
