Located on the grounds of
the Hartford House, the home built by General James S. Wadsworth in 1835
The
Free Soil Farm was founded in 2009 by Corrin Strong and Amy Carpenter on the grounds
of the Hartford House. As of Spring 2012 Corrin is farming five acres of vegetables
with the help of an active group of volunteers and CSA members. We are not certified
organic but we do not use any chemical herbicides or pesticides in our production.
We
operate a seasonal farm market that is located on Avon
Road (NYS Rt. 39) just north of the Livingston County Courthouse. You can also
join our CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and enjoy
substantial savings on your produce.
We also offer
accomodations at The Garden Suite at the Hartford
House from May to October. We are also booking outdoor weddings at the Hartford
House starting in June of 2012.
